Armani Beauty · Lip Power

As if timed with the world finally opening up, Armani Beauty recently launched Lip Power Longwear Vivid Color Lipstick — which is like saying “get your lips ready, because masks are coming off ” … or, that’s my creative interpretation. Styled in keeping with the Italian luxury brand’s sophisti-sexy look, these lippies pack a statement even before you take them out of the tube. I mean, just look at them.

Something about this sizzling red bag … which I definitely plan on reusing, by the way

Lip Power Longwear Vivid Color Lipstick (CAN $50.00/each) | Housed in tall slim tubes in the brand’s signature two-tone colours & topped with a silver GA logo, these are long-wearing lipsticks that come to a satin finish. The unique teardrop shape of the bullet has been specifically created to help make application easier and to that end, it does a great job, although the tip may wear down with use. The formula contains a unique combination of oils and highly concentrated pigments, which provide continuous hydration to go with ultra saturated colour. The texture is sublime: buttery smooth and offering up full opacity from the first swipe. Said to provide up to 8 hours of wear without needing reapplication, some transfer might occur given the emollient nature, but I was surprised by how little did wear off. As to the application itself, I like the teardrop shape and find that it does make it easy to reach all areas of the lips without the need for a liner.

In all honesty, the past year has created new habits where wearing makeup is concerned, but I for one am ready to wear lipstick in public again — not only because I love the polished look it gives, but because of what it stands for: a return to normalcy (ie: no more masks). In the past, ‘long wear lipstick’ meant ‘dry & flat’ to me, so I appreciate that these not only provide intense colour saturation + staying power, but that they feel so comfortable throughout wear. The only thing left is to test-drive one of these babies at an outdoor terrace … because now we finally can again! PS: not surprisingly, I’m obsessed with 400 Four Hundred, in case you were wondering.
