Keeping my hands in optimum condition is of prime importance to me; frequently showcasing nail varnishes ensures that I give my hands an inordinate amount of pampering – after all, what good is a perfect application of polish if the surrounding skin looks untended? My findings: Thinking that this needed to be a heavy product to be able to do all it claimed, I was surprised to find that this treatment cream was actually quite light & fluffy. A small amount – less than dime-sized per hand (fig.1), is all that’s needed to fully cover both hands as it spreads rather easily. A fresh and pleasant citrusy scent follows this application and even though an initial sheen is left on the surface of your skin, that is quickly absorbed without any greasy residue left behind. Before application of StriVectin-SD Volumizing Hand Treatment (fig. 2), my skin felt dry with a visible tightly drawn look on the surface. Once the treatment was applied (fig. 3), I felt an immediate surge of moisture coupled with an increased suppleness to my hands, while the skin itself is clearly more nourished looking.

While I can’t say if my skin actually increased in plumpness and/or volume, I can state that with approximately 3 weeks of consistent use, my hands looked well tended with the skin appearing somewhat brighter, and I also experienced a significant decrease in dryness – even after washing my hands multiple times during the day.

Final thoughts: Our hands take a lot of abuse – it’s only fair that we give them some much deserved love as often as we can, right? There are several things to recommend this hand treatment, beginning with the 4 1/2″ conveniently sized squeeze tube which holds 60 ml/2 fl.oz of product – more than enough to go around, especially considering that you only need a scant amount to do the job. Secondly, I have a huge pet peeve with hand creams that come with a screw cap, so the easy flip-top of this product makes it literally mess-free. The fact that it comes with an inner foil seal to ensure the contents remain pristine and tamper-free until ready to be used, is another huge plus for me. The only drawback may be the price; at CDN $33.00/US $29.00, it’s definitely on the higher end of the scale, although when you factor in all its benefits, in my opinion that’s a small price to pay to keep my hands looking cared for and young … and I refuse to go down the age route without a fight!
