Dior Backstage · Face & Body Powder-No-Powder
Inspired by his work behind the scenes at runway shows, Peter Philips created the Backstage product line in 2018 — a range that is simultaneously professional and intuitive in its approach to makeup. Each season, the brand’s Creative & Image Director finds a way to transmit his pro secrets through essential and universal products that deliver on performance, but also happen to be so easy to use. All I know, is that I’ve yet to be disappointed by anything in the lineup … and that record is still holding strong with this launch.
MAKE UP FOR EVER · Watertone Skin-Perfecting Tint
MAKE UP FOR EVER has just launched WATERTONE SKIN-PERFECTING TINT, and there’s plenty to love about this product. Part of a new generation of foundation formulas, this is less about full-on coverage and more about letting your natural skin shine — and that feature alone sits absolutely within my wheelhouse.
CHANEL · Backstage Beauty Fall-Winter 2021/22 Haute Couture
It seemed only fitting that CHANEL’s recent Fall/Winter 2021-2022 Haute Couture show was held at the Palais Galleria, City of Paris Fashion Museum, especially considering that paintings from the Belle Époque (19th century) were the inspiration behind the collection, in particular works from two female artists — Berthe Morisot and Marie Laurencin. Interestingly, both makeup and hair had a strong edge, an effect that toned down the softness of the pieces and gave the looks an overall rock & roll vibe which I personally found so fresh and, well … cool.
Guerlain · New Terracotta Bronzing Powder & L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation
I recently had the pleasure of a personalized virtual one-on-one beauty consultation with Maxime Poulin, International Makeup Artist for Guerlain — not to mention a close personal friend of mine — where I was introduced to several new launches from the brand and he then hand-selected products that would work best for me. While he knows me well, the fact that he was still able to choose the perfect L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation & Terracotta Bronzing Powder shades for me through a zoom call, is proof that this man is a truly brilliant artist. But enough about that; let’s dive into the newness, shall we?
CHANEL Cruise 2021/22 Collection · Backstage Beauty
This past May 3rd, CHANEL presented its Cruise 2021-2022 Collection, with Virginie Viard once again turning to Gabrielle Chanel’s personal archives for inspiration. Held at Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence (South of France), this former quarry with its towering stone-cut walls, instantly calls to mind ancient Egyptian structures (no? just me?). So totally unique and absolutely impressive … and now I absolutely want to go there.
