CHANEL · Backstage Beauty Fall-Winter 2023/24 Ready-to-Wear Show

Mademoiselle’s beloved camellia flower was featured all over CHANEL’s recent Fall-Winter 2023/24 Ready-to-Wear Show, but I naturally zeroed in on the beauty look created. Personally, I’m all about makeup I can recreate at home and if it’s with products I already own, then that’s even sweeter.

For this show, CHANEL’s Beauty Studio went with a diffused smokey eye in shades of steely grey-blue, a nice departure from the traditional black smokey look and thus made more wearable for those of us who don’t happen to work as runway models. The complexion was evened out but natural skin still showed through (love that), with a soft pink blush placed high on the cheeks to add a pop of freshness, and a hint of bronzer lower on the cheeks to provide subtle definition. Both lips and nails were kept neutral, but still sported a soft hit of colour. Loads of mascara gave this look a bit of grit and kept it from coming off as too dainty.

What makes this look very appealing to me, is not only how effortless it is to recreate at home, but that the products used are all in the current lineup; it drives me crazy when limited edition products are made & used for a specific show, that wind up not being available in my country. CRAZY, I tell you. And if you’re going for full-on authenticity and already have everything here, then that’s great — but you can easily recreate this look with similar products from other brands that you might currently own. If not, then the good thing is you can actually find all of these items at your nearest CHANEL counter. See how easy that is? Another takeaway here is that everything is customizable: you can always dial up/down the application to work with your particular style.
