CHANEL · Cruise Marseille 2024/25 Backstage Beauty

The CHANEL Cruise 2024 runway show took place at the MAMO, Centre d’art de la cité radieuse in Marseille, France and was one of the last collections to be created by Virginie Viard, as it was recently announced that she was stepping down as Creative Director for the brand. The pieces drew inspiration from an ‘underwater reverie’, with the makeup doing its absolute best to provide an elevated mermaid vibe — which also happens to look pretty easy to recreate & which I fully intend to try.

Face: Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch, Foundation Brush N° 101, Le Correcteur de CHANEL, Retractable Dual-Tip Concealer Brush N° 105

I love how the complexion looks so natural and not covered up — makes everything stand out in the best possible way.

Brows: Stylo Sourcils Waterproof, Dual-Ended Brow Brush N° 207, Le Gel Sourcils Transparent

Eyes: Ombre Essentielle 224 Blé d’Or Antique, Ombre Essentielle 222 Jade Facetté, Retractable Dual-Ended Eyeshadow Brush N° 200, Le Volume de CHANEL N° 10 Noir

There’s something really unique in this softly “metallized” eye look; I really like how the shadows were applied in a variety of ways: as a soft wash of allover colour, intensified & layered up along the lid to bring out the metallic effect, or worn dampened as liner along the upper lash line. All that’s needed to finish the look is a swipe of mascara & done.

Cheeks: Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sun-Kissed Powder, Precision Powder Brush N° 107

The versatility of the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sun-Kissed Powder (reviewed here) is clearly in evidence, with one compact providing all you need to complete the look: highlighter, blush & bronzer.

Lips: 31 Le Rouge N° 1 Rouge Beige

Nails: La Base Camélia, Le Vernis N° 157 Phenix, Le Gel Coat, La Crème Main

While the shade Phenix was the go-to shade for the show, another nail look that I noticed was the inclusion of “nail accessories” in both pale pink and black (see below), that appears to be a hybrid nail look/jewelry worn by a few of the models. Possibly a bit cumbersome, but still pretty unique and something I wouldn’t mind trying — but on one nail only as an accent.

It wouldn’t be a CHANEL runway show without a stunning white number, am I right?
