CHANEL · Backstage Beauty Métiers D’Art 2023/24 Collection

Every year CHANEL selects one special location to hold the Métiers D’Art Collection and Manchester, England was the setting for the 2023/24 runway show. With a nod to the mod 60’s vibe and musical heritage of the area, Virginie Viard reinterpreted Coco Chanel’s iconic tweeds with vibrant colour, but you guys know I’m all about the beauty look — and this one is not only saucy, but so easy to recreate. Fun too, I might add.

Most of the products used to create this beauty look are luckily part of the permanent range, and while there are a few that were limited edition, I feel that this makeup is still relatively easy to recreate with products you may already own. In the end, the eyes were the focus, but not in an overdone gaudy way, but rather it’s like taking a 60’s exaggerated liner and making it relevant for today. Brows were groomed and lightly filled in, while lips and the rest of the complexion sported a fresh flush of colour. I’m also glad to see that the ubiquitous Ballerina nail polish — a true classic and by now an iconic shade — was given a companion: the moody, irreverent navy blue of Fugueuse, which, by the way, is a total stunner.
