Dior · Summer 2022 Dioriviera Collection

Inspired by the glorious sun along the French Riviera, the Dioriviera Collection is nothing less than summer encapsulated in makeup form. And even if a steamy vay-cay is not in your immediate future, you can still recreate the vibe with these pieces … until the real deal does come along (and it will).

5 Couleurs Couture Riviera Eyeshadow Palettes (CAN $78.00/each) | Housed in the brand’s iconic navy slim-profile lacquered cases, both palettes display the classic ‘bayadère‘ striped motif on the surface. As with all Dior quints, they shades are designed to work harmoniously together; the top 2 + the middle helps create a softer ‘daytime’ look, while the bottom 2 + the middle can supply more of a dramatic/evening look, although you’re always free to mix them up as you wish. The textures are all stellar: highly pigmented & effortless to blend out. Staying power when worn over primer, is bang-on with the colours staying true until removed.

479 Bayadere | The warmer leaning of the two palettes, it contains a gorgeous mix of shimmer, sparkle, satiny & matte to play with:

  • golden peach shimmer, top left
  • icy white with a gold shift sparkle, top right
  • golden bronze shimmer, middle
  • rich terracotta matte, bottom right
  • copper satin shimmer, bottom left

779 Riviera | Even though this palette leans cooler, it can still be made to work on those with warmer complexions. As with Bayadère, this too has a lovely range of finishes:

  • taupe pink shimmer, top left
  • champagne shimmer with sparkle, top right
  • golden rose shimmer, middle
  • plum brown matte, bottom right
  • lush merlot shimmer, bottom left

Dior Addict Lip Tint (Can $45.00/each) | Housed in matte opaque tubes embossed with a raised Dior logo (I mean, how cute is that?), these are transfer-proof lip tints that are said to provide up to 12 hours of wear. Comprised of 95% ingredients of natural origin (the remain 5% goes towards maintaining the integrity of the formula), they contain cherry oil for hydration and long-lasting comfort. The flocked applicator makes application easy and while one swipe can provide enough product to completely cover lips, you can also layer up for more intensity. The initial sheen does dry down to a more natural finish and fair warning: the stain they leave behind sticks around for quite a while, something I actually don’t mind as it’s like wearing lipstick but without needing to constantly reapply. By adding a slick of lip balm, you can also ‘revive’ the colour to keep it going even longer.

Available in 12 shades

  • 251 Natural Peach – rosy peach
  • 351 Natural Nude – dusty rose
  • 491 Natural Rosewood – soft rosewood
  • 561 Natural Poppy – vibrant poppy red
  • 761 Natural Fuchsia – hot pink red
  • 771 Natural Berry – plum red

Once again, Dior has produced an outstanding collection worthy of summer. Both palettes deliver as promised but I have to say that Bayadère is the one I’m reaching for right now — only because I can’t get enough of sunny hues at the moment. As to the Lip Tints, these are a much improved version of anything similar the brand has put out before, and what’s more, they are so lightweight in feel that you forget you’re wearing them. Note that the palettes are limited edition.
