Essie ‘Go Overboard’ (swatches & review)

While not part of Essie’s official 2012 spring collection, ‘Go Overboard’ is still a new shade for the brand, recently launched and just in time for the upcoming warmer season ahead, although this colour can most certainly be worn all year round.

An ultra creamy and exceptionally colour saturated blue-based teal, I can sum up this shade in one word: STELLAR. The formula, while initially appearing a touch thick, actually flows so easily across the nail, levelling itself off perfectly smooth and leaving behind the most insane mirror like natural gloss. With a colour this richly pigmented, you can almost get away with one coat for full coverage, although I did apply two here. Bonus:  absolutely NO staining left behind upon removal. The following swatches are with Essie’s All In One Base Coat, and No Chips Ahead Top Coat.

Final thoughts: Teal being one of my favourite and go-to shades, ‘Go Overboard’ is part of a triad of new shades from Essie this year, and a total must-have, in my opinion. Everything about this lacquer just works, from the trans-seasonal hue, the fabulous formula, to the colour which will compliment basically every skin tone and nail length. Something tells me that Essie, who celebrates 30 years in the industry this year, has another winner on their hands … and on our nails!

Seriously, can this photo be more perfectly suited to ‘Go Overboard’? !
