Givenchy · Le Rouge Interdit Intense Silk Lipstick & L’Interdit Eau de Toilette (2022)

Givenchy recently added to their incredible lipstick range with the launch of Le Rouge Interdit Intense Silk — and while the name might be a mouthful, I can assure you that the texture will more than make up for that. Also new is a revamped version of L’Interdit Eau de Toilette that may have a shift in notes, but still maintains the fragrance’s signature at heart. This is a brand that honours its storied history, and I’m definitely here for that.

The package I received also included a lipstick carrying case that has a black flocked exterior embossed with the Givenchy name and a velvety burgundy interior. While the size is slightly larger than I’m used to, I really appreciate how this case serves to protect the leather lipstick case. It’s all about these thoughtful touches!

Le Rouge Interdit Intense Silk Lipstick (CAN $52.00/each) | The outer case is wrapped in genuine black leather, while the stud closure bears Matthew Williams’ reworked signature 4G logo. The ‘eco-conceived’ formulation is made from ingredients selected by Givenchy that helps in decreasing any environmental impact, as well as being 70% of natural origin. The formula is crafted with silk powder extract (provides comfort), prickly pear oil (for a smooth glide), acmella flower extract (soothing properties), as well as hyaluronic acid (major hydration) — but it’s the sensorial feel that will totally blow you away. With an super buttery smooth texture (seriously, it’s beyond lush), these provide full coverage with one swipe, feel so comfortable throughout wear, and come to a satin finish. There are 21 shades available, 4 are refillable.

Refills: CAN $41.00

  • 110 Beige Nu – nude/pink beige
  • 500 Brun Mocha – caramel
  • 37 Rouge Grainé – brick red

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Toilette 2022 Edition (CAN $147.00/80 ml) | This is a new version of L’Interdit Eau de Toilette, with the couture bottle bearing Matthew Williams’ 4G logo at the neck and designed with 10% glass reduction. Considered a “floral-woody-musky” composition, the notes are:

  • orange essence from the Ivory Coast (top notes)
  • orange blossom from Tunisia, tuberose & jasmine absolutes from India (heart notes)
  • patchouli essence from Indonesia, vetiver essence from Haiti, musks & cactus flower (base notes)

While the DNA of the original L’Interdit perfume remains at the core, this version feels lighter and somehow more sparkly — and not only because it’s an eau de toilette, but possibly due to all the citrus notes in the mix. The musk and patchouli give it a bit of grounding so it’s not all ‘fluff’, and overall I’d say that this is a fresh & clean scent. The part I love is that it’s not headache inducing at all … and it makes me smile. If I had to use one word to describe it, that would have to be: uplifting. Another perk is that this eau de toilette is the perfect option if you don’t want the longevity of the perfume version.

Givenchy is a brand that I’ve been a long time fan of — both in terms of their cosmetics (in particular the lipsticks, a category in which this Maison absolutely excels) and the fragrances, especially the L’Interdit range (both my daughter & I adore the perfume). I’m so happy to report that neither of these 2 launches disappoints, and if you’re in the market for an absolutely amazing lipstick, do yourself a favour and check out this range – enjoy!

Available at Sephora (16 shades) & Holt Renfrew (21 shades)
