Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm (CAN $45.00/each) | I don’t know how Givenchy managed  this sorcery, but the brand figured out a way to create a liquid version of their highly successful marble-patterned Rose Perfecto balms that were originally released in 2021. Available in 6 shades, they come house in transparent tubes — the better to admire the stunning swirled hues — along with a flocked applicator. Apart from reducing the outer packaging, the iconic pink cap now is now covered in a material made from cacti as an alternative to animal leather, and is fully traceable and sustainably farmed using organic farming methods that are USDA-certified. Along the lines of a hybrid makeup/skincare product, the formula contains 97% skincare ingredients centred around 4 key elements:

WILD PINK PEPPER – This ingredient is responsibly harvested using a solvent- free extraction method on Réunion Island. Wild pink pepper is rich in omega-6 fatty acids that are essential in restoring and maintaining the quality of the hydrolipidic film of the epidermis

SHEA BUTTER – Thanks to its multiple benefits, shea butter helps nourish the lips and keeps them hydrated. Its filmogenic action helps retain water in the epidermis, preventing the lips from dehydrating

HYALURONIC ACID – This ingredient attracts water and expands like a hydration micro-sensor. It smooths the lips, which appear immediately plumper

VITAMIN C DERIVATIVE – This derivative stimulates collagen synthesis, thus improving the natural curve of the lips

Super easy to apply, each balm feels incredibly buttery and comes to a glossy finish. The texture is almost creamy but not sticky, and lips feel totally nourished throughout wear. There is a slight tingling felt, but it’s very subtle and while I can’t say that my lips appear plumper, I do feel like my lip lines are definitely more filled-in looking. All leave a light stain behind with shade 001 Pink Irrésistible interacting with your pH levels to create a totally customized hue.

L’Interdit Givenchy Eau de Toilette 2022 (CAN $135.00/50 ml, 1.7 fl oz) | The latest flanker in the L’Interdit family, this was previously released in 2019 (reviewed here) and has been reformulated for 2022. The bottle has been tweaked as well, being slightly more slender & lighter, now containing up to 11% recycled glass — which has reduced the overall weight of the glass by 10%. In addition, the exterior packaging is made from cardboard that contains FSC™ certified sustainably-managed forests. With a black ribbon around the neck, the brand’s emblem has also been reworked, displaying a more 3D-looking profile. This new variation has been created by master perfumers Fanny Bal, Anne Flipo, and Dominique Ropion — the trio behind the original EDT, and bears the same orange blossom olfactory signature … but with a few changes. Notes include:

  • Top: bergamot, orange, mandarin, ginger
  • Heart: tuberose, samba, grandiflorum jasmine
  • Base: musk, leathery cistus, patchouli, vetiver

In homage to the brand’s 4G emblem, the orange blossom DNA of the fragrance is represented using four different methods: essence, absolute, CO² fraction, and concrete — all done sustainably and environmentally mindful. I personally adore all version of L’Interdit and while the EDP is the one I’ll reach for when I want something with more impact, and eau de toilette is definitely easier to wear, especially for daytime. That said and factoring in that this is an EDT, I’m actually pleasantly surprised by its longevity. The first spritz is sparkling and fresh — I totally pick up all the citrus notes. Within a few minutes, the fragrance begins to display its floral side but one that intertwines with the lighter citrus notes before, without overpowering them into anything cloying. A few hours later, the dry down turns soft and mellow to round everything out, allowing it all to fade gently away.

If like me, you’re a balm/gloss lover, then you’ll definitely want to explore these latest Rose Perfecto Liquid Balms because they’re not only visually little works of art, but deliver where it counts: performance. Since fragrance is highly subjective, all I can say is that if the notes of this L’Interdit EDT sound appealing, then do yourself a favour and try it out — you never know when you’ll find that special ‘one’.
