Guerlain · Abeille Royale Double R Renew & Repair Eye Serum

Inspired by the best-selling Abeille Royale Double R Serum (reviewed here), Guerlain recently launched a serum for eyes that will be replacing the former version in the range. The dual chambers are not only visually pretty cool-looking, but this formulation now packs a bigger punch than before … and that’s always a good thing, in my books.

Abeille Royale Double R Renew & Repair Eye Serum (CAN $155.00/20 ml, 0.6 fl oz) Housed in a dual-chambered hexagonally-shaped glass bottle, this new eye serum draws on the brand’s Dynamic Blackbee Repair technology to target both the visible signs of aging, as well as to help with improving the surface appearance surrounding the eye area. Following the success of the Double R face serum, Guerlain’s science lab looked to apply a similar technology and formulation to this new eye serum. The previous eye product (which I absolutely loved, for the record) came with a metallic applicator that I personally felt was genius, as it helped with depuffing the under eye area, but apparently Guerlain felt that the dual-pump system provided a more hygienic experience. This new formula is composed of 95% naturally derived ingredients that have been specifically tailored for the sensitive eye contour area, while the bottle has been mindfully designed using less plastic and at least 20% recycled glass.

According to the brand:

  • RADIANCE-ACTIVATING TECHNOLOGY
A radiance-restoring white honey concentrate is combined with an anti-fatigue complex: fragmented hyaluronic acid that promotes skin recovery and a peptide that encourages recovery from the signs of fatigue. The eye look becomes intensely more radiant, the eye contour is smoothed, puffiness and dark circles are visibly reduced; finally, pigmentation that darken the eye area are diminished.
  • LIFTING-EFFECT TECHNOLOGY
Dynamic Blackbee Repair technology that helps to accelerate skin’s self-repair mechanisms is enriched with tensing polyfermented honeys derived from a patented biotechnological method. The epidermis’ youthful structures retighten, the eye look appears more open with a lifted effect.

I’m a huge fan of the Abeille Royale range and can rave for days on end about the products, so it really came as no surprise that I’d like this one as well. That said, I literally just finished one bottle — which pretty much sums up how much I loved this serum. The texture includes both a cream and an oil that once combined, blend easily together. I apply this under the eye and along the entire orbital bone, all the way out towards the temples. Once absorbed (which takes mere minutes), it sinks fully into the skin, leaving no greasy residue behind. I’m even able to apply eye makeup on the upper lid (with a primer layered first), without worrying that it’ll slide around and off. The only thing that needs mentioning is the actual delivery system; make sure to keep the opening free of any residual product, or else it may not pump out smoothly — something I learned the hard way when I actually had some go flying out all over my floor.

The dream team … plus some Guerlain honey to ‘sweeten’ the deal!

I actually didn’t become consistent with applying an eye cream until the last few years, and now it’s the something I NEVER skip. What I really love about this serum is not only do I find that my eye contour area looks more even-toned and less puffy, but that I’m also able to wear it under makeup. Overall, highly recommend.
