Illamasqua: ‘Skin Sketching’ – first look!

From the creatively fertile landscape of Illamasqua, comes their new ‘Medium Pencils’. Available in either a neutral or vibrant range of hues, they boast a blendable, long-lasting creamy formula that glides on effortlessly and offers a vast possibility of applications and makeup looks.  In the words of Illamasqua,

“Ever since the 1940’s when Greta Garbo picked up her black pencil and created the iconic illusion of depth on her eye socket line for the Hollywood cameras, make-up users across the world have searched for the tools and technique to create that show-stopping moment”

Enter Illamasqua’s Medium Pencils, ready to fill that void.  According to the company, the basic technique is simple and effective:

Illamasqua’s Secrets of the Skin Sketching Technique:

  1. Smudge Medium Pencil in ‘Vow’ (nude apricot) all over the eyelid to reduce redness & blemishes to create a soft nude base.
  2. Draw Medium Pencil in ‘Flinch’ (soft charcoal) along your upper socket line and under the eye for definition.
  3. Scrawl Medium Pencil in ‘Honour’ (rich brown) on the outer third of the eye and on the bottom waterline for sexy smokiness.
  4. Blend the three colours together with Blending Brush I.

‘Skin Sketching’, the brilliant concept behind these pencils, is that they enable you to define, contour and highlight your face all using these Medium Pencils, potentially cutting down the time of your makeup-routine as well as helping you find your defining look!  For a more in-depth look of the Medium Pencils at work, take a look at the following tutorial. Available soon, these pencils will retail for £ 13.00 through Illamasqua’s website.
