Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint

Jouer Cosmetics is one of those brands that everyone seems to be talking about these days, and when I recently received a selection of products to try out, I couldn’t wait to dive right in. Colour cosmetics (lip, cheek & eye products) are usually the first to catch your eye, but lately I’ve become obsessed with what I believe to be an even more important aspect of one’s makeup routine: flawless skin. Enter Jouer’s award-winning Luminizing Moisture Tint – a hybrid tinted moisturizer/BB cream, and a product that I now refuse to be without.

Luminizing Moisture Tint (US $38.00) – Available in 7 shades which should suit from fair to darker complexions, I was sent 5 sample shades to test out: opal, pearl, glow, golden & bronze. According to the company:

“This lightweight moisturizing tint evens out skin imperfections and fades the appearance of fine lines with its light-diffusing multi-mineral formula. SPF 20 protects from UVA and UVB rays while Ginseng and Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract deliver antioxidants to the skin, promoting a healthy complexion. Perfect for all skin types: oil free, hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic and fragrance-free”

My thoughts: Of the 5 shades, the one that suits my skin tone the best is Golden (which I LOVE ♥♥♥); Opal falls a touch too white on me, although I’m able to layer it over Golden on strategic areas as a subtle highlighter, and I even have success mixing in a touch with my usual foundation to provide a hint of luminosity. Pearl, while still light for me, somehow blends easier into my skin than Opal does (the slight peachy undertones mesh better with my tone). Glow is too orange-tinted to work on me, more suited with those that have a more medium tone than mine. Lastly, Bronze – while definitely too dark on my Winter-pale skin, will be absolutely spectacular come the Summer, although I did wear it along the perimeter of my face as a soft contour and to bring warmth to certain areas.

Like most women, my makeup routine varies; there are days when I like to indulge in full-on foundation, but more often than not, I prefer to have my skin appear even & toned, without any elaborate set-up to get there. Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint has met my needs in this regard exceptionally well:

providing a light veil of colour
moisturizing without leaving an oily feeling behind
non-oxidizing
long-lasting

The effect is the classic “my skin, but better” and while there is a soft shimmer in the product, it seems to meld with my skin’s natural oils to give me a ‘lit-from-within’ kind of glow, but nothing too obvious; my face looks healthy, even, vibrant and natural – not overdone.

My only complaint? The sample of Golden I was sent finished way too quickly, and now I’m in dire need of my Luminizing Moisture Tint fix (#beautybloggeraddiction). There is a reason that Hollywood’s top makeup artists (not to mention the talented makeup artists at several recent fashion shows) have all embraced this brand, and in particular, this product: it delivers. From the many tinted moisturizers (and a few BB creams) that I’ve tried, all have fallen short of my expectations and basically turned me off to this type of product. Jouer, you have single-handedly redeemed this category. Thank you.
