By now, my pale blonde mane has become my trademark and I even get frequently recognized from behind – and I owe that all to my hair colour. I’ve often jokingly said that I’d sooner divorce my husband than change my colourist (not really, although…), but that doesn’t mean I also haven’t wondered how I’d look with a different hair shade (don’t even get me started on a new hair cut. Baby steps). That being said and while I’m not yet ready to commit to a radical colour change, thanks to the revolutionary new MATRIX Color Lounge app, I can now ‘test drive’ any hue and technique I’ve ever imagined. All day long if I want to, because THAT’s how easy and addictive this app is. And fun, did I mention that?
After downloading the app to your smartphone (also available for iPod Touch, iPad and Android), upload or take a picture of your hair and … let the creativity flow. There is quite a broad range of colour options and techniques to choose from, and you can even mix & match them to get totally unique results. Once done, you’re also provided with a selection of tailored haircare products to maintain your new ‘look’, then lastly you can save your masterpiece (for future reference, perhaps?) or upload it to your social media channels and share with the world. Easy-peasy.
Below is a sampling of some of the looks I virtually tried out and you can tell at a glance that I may have gone a little overboard but it’s just so interesting! I started out with a photo of my present hair colour (Fig.1), then the next step was to manually ‘fill in’ my hair (the orangey tone) in preparation for adding colour options (Fig.2). If I had a stylus to work with, my results would have been even more realistic, but I’m still happy with how everything turned out.
