Nail Looks at the 2012 Golden Globes (& fashion too!)

I have a confession to make: I didn’t “technically” watch the 69th Golden Globes Awards which aired this past Sunday (January 15, 2012); what I did was more along the lines of avidly stare (and dissect) the red carpet entry of the stars, as well as race to the tv to check out all the female presenters – with regards to their makeup, nails, hair and gowns….what did you think I meant?!

A theme that has been prevalent for the past several seasons of awards shows, was definitely alive and well here too; I am referring to the majority of celebrities opting for a natural/nude nail look, in what I’m guessing must be in an effort to not compete with their gowns. While I can understand that to a certain degree, I also feel that with all the options available now in the world of nail lacquer, why would these ladies want to blindly follow along with the rest of the herd? Final thoughts: I buy all the major fashion magazines. I follow many inspirational bloggers. I am in contact with many people in the beauty/fashion industry. I enjoy the *occasional* award show. The reason I do all of these things, is because I have a true and deep-rooted passion for all things beauty (plus, I can’t really help myself – hello, addiction?!) Certain celebrities capture our attention for two main reasons; either A) they are a complete train wreck and we morbidly cannot look away from their fashion/beauty disasters or B) they are always so creatively and beautifully put together that we develop an instant and long-lasting crush on them (thereby channeling their looks with varying degrees of success). It therefore comes as somewhat of a disappointment to me, that more stars aren’t at least a touch more daring in some of their looks, especially with regards to their nails. C’mon people — you have about a zillion choices available to you: time to give break away from the nudes!
