New Brand: a-england ‘The Mythicals’

I get such a thrill when I come across a new and exciting brand, and ‘a-england’ is one such brand that you just have to hear about. I received a wonderful email the other day from Adina Bodana, a very unique sounding lady and founder of ‘a-england’ where she detailed the particulars of this ‘historically’ chic new line of lacquers.

‘a-england’ was officially launched this past January 8th, and looks to be quite promising, both in its concept, colour range, names and the product itself. The products are all free of toluene, formaldehyde and DBP, as well not tested on animals.  Of course, without having tried the polishes out personally, I can only comment on what I see thus far, but I do so like what I’ve seen!  It doesn’t hurt that I’ve always been a huge ‘Arthurian’ fan, and so this collection aptly named ‘The Mythicals’ and all based on characters straight out of Arthurian legend, is right up my alley. The salon formula shades seem to all be highly pigmented.  According to Adina the inspiration behind the collection comes straight out of history itself:

It was the time of extraordinary adventures, romance and courtly manner. Armoured knights would try to prove their worth and win the love of beautiful women, through their skills in battles, embarking in perilous journeys, exceptional trials, jousting tournaments when Camelot became the center of the universe and the myth of King Arthur the epitome of the Golden Age of Chivalry

Apart from base coat and top coat (The Knight and The Shield respectively), the collection is comprised of 15 shades, with 2 of them holographic:

Lady of the Lake - dusky purple with rainbow glimmer & glow

Tristam - night blue sky with starlight glimmer & glow

The rest of the collection includes the following:

Avalon - incandescent regal & royal purple

Camelot - black onyx glaze with unique lustre

Elaine - smoky violet amethyst

Excalibur - majestic silver platinum

Galahad - mystic vibrant blue green

Guinevere - beautiful antique pale mauve

Holy Grail - glorious gold

Iseult - delicate pink with opalescent pearly reflection

King Arthur - tungsten, steel grey with subtle diamond shimmer

Lancelot - intriguing mysterious black red garnet

Merlin - spectacular scintillating silver

Morgan le Fay - luminescent white silver

*note that Morgan le Fay is what’s called a “Little Gem” and that it can be worn alone or layered over the other polishes for a dazzling effect

Perceval - splendid and resplendent red

Even though ‘a-england’ is a relative new player on the scene, it’s already generating quite a buzz! I also love how the colours and names seem to be so well matched; I feel that Adina has beautifully captured the essence of that magical time and I look forward to more from this brand. Please visit their website here for more information or to purchase any of the products. All polishes, as well as base & top coats retail for £9.50 and from my understanding, international shipping is available as well.
