I like spoiling my hair, I really do; I pamper it, baby it, and feed it, and in return, my hair rewards me by behaving – for the most part. That being said, I do have good hair genes to thank for doing most of the work, but that aside, I’m a strong proponent of moisturizing every inch of one’s body – HAIR IN PARTICULAR! I have long heard of the ‘Bain de Terre’ range of hair care products, and when the opportunity arose for me to try this duo out, I was so thrilled; I especially loved the fact that not only is this ‘Keratin Phyto-Protein Strengthening’ shampoo & conditioner sulfate-free, but loaded with good-for-you + nourishing botanicals … a winning combination! The following is taken from the company’s fact sheet, and perfectly sums up what these products aim to do:
“The keratin phyto-protein strengthening formula more than doubles protection against future combing breakage. The unique blend of wheat, corn, and soy proteins, combined with plant-derived botaneceuticals and enriched with keratin to replenish hair’s natural protein, nourishes, revitalizes, and protects to keep hair strong, healthy and lustrous”
As this shampoo is free from many harmful ingredients, especially sulfates which are totally stripping to colour-treated hair like mine, don’t expect it to give off an abundant lather, therefore ensure your hair is quite saturated with water before proceeding. The formula itself is of a silken, pudding-like texture and seems to glide easily throughout the hair, while the scent was a unique amalgamation of fresh green growing things and something close to vanilla (somewhat relaxing, actually) – after rinsing, my strands already felt quite soft, even before the addition of any conditioner.
a little redundant, but the directions are included just the same

I prefer to apply conditioner all over, seeing as how my hair is colour treated such a light shade, and needs all the nourishment I can give it to maintain that healthy shine. Once I’m done shampooing, I wring out as much excess moisture as I can from my hair, then beginning with the ends, I apply a liberal amount (about the size of two 25-cent pieces) of conditioner and work my way up, massaging it in completely. Keeping the conditioner on my hair until I finish my shower routine, the last thing I do before stepping out, is to rinse it all away, thus ensuring my hair gets a chance to completely take in as much of the beneficial nourishment as it can.

I need to point out something almost miraculous (for my hair, that is!); I have always needed to apply a leave-in conditioner throughout my towel-dried hair so that I can comb through it with ease and to keep frizz to a minimum, but I haven’t needed to do this step NOT EVEN ONCE since I began using this conditioner! My hair feels luxuriously soft and just so well-fed!

Final thoughts: You know the way your hair seems to always smell so good when you’ve had a professional blowout & how the scent lingers long after you leave the salon? That’s exactly what I experienced with these two amazing products … at home! I am always so happy to try products and find that they not only live up to their claims, but also sometimes exceed them, which is most definitely the case with this ‘Keratin Phyto-Protein Strengthening Shampoo & Conditioner’ duo. I also love the fact that I can skip a step in my hair routine, and still show excellent results. The shampoo (400 ml/13.5 fl oz) which retails for CDN $11.45 and the matching conditioner at CDN $12.75 (400ml/13.5 fl oz) can be purchased through fine salons or by visiting the company’s website for further information. I’m already planning on stocking up!
