As I was sworn to secrecy and could neither confirm nor reveal what OPI had up its sleeve, I am so happy (and relieved!) to finally be able to share the news with you now…especially since OPI has made the announcement official via their facebook page! Coming this January 2012, the incredibly talended hip-hop and crossover artist, Nicki Minaj, has collaborated on a limited edition nail lacquer collection with OPI.
The six nail lacquers, all named after some of Nicki’s songs, are as follows:
- ‘Super Bass’ – a deep, shimmering purple shatter
- ‘Metallic 4 Life’ – a charcoal sparkle
- ‘Save Me’ – a silver rainbow glitter
- ‘Fly’ – an electric aqua
- ‘Did It On ‘Em’ – a fluorescent lime
- ‘Pink Friday’ – a creamy bubblegum pink hue
The 28-year old artist’s “colourful & eccentric personality”, (who also helped to design this range), was a source of inspiration, according to Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s Executive VP and Artistic Director. “OPI is so excited in working with Nicki to release these six new nail lacquers. Nicki has taken the hip-hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair colour both on and off the stage”. The collection will debut and go on sale in early January 2012, and something tells me that it will rise to the top of the charts in no time!
