One thing you can always count on when it comes to MAC, is that even if a current collection doesn’t grab your fancy, the next one just might – case in point: their latest It’s A Strike Collection that’s aiming to bowl you over this coming August 18th. Kitschy bowling names aside, this grouping includes a surprisingly number of totally wearable shades, along with a face powder that is almost too adorable to put a brush to. I mean … bowling pins!

I am, and always have been a Trekker (to paraphrase Spock from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan). I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t obsessed with this franchise, having grown up watching the original series over & over again and always wishing I could be a crew member. I also vividly recall waiting in line with a bunch of friends to see the premiere of Star Trek the Motion Picture and all of us singing/humming the opening theme at the top of our lungs, not to mention crying my eyes out when Spock ‘died’, or the absolute horror I felt upon seeing the Enterprise crash and burn. Yes, I am a bonafide fan and you can probably imagine my delirium when I first learned that MAC would be producing a Star Trek Collection in collaboration with the original franchise’s 50th Anniversary. Let the log show that I couldn’t think of a better brand to bring this venture to life.

With the amount of releases MAC puts out (literally, every 3 weeks) it can be hard to keep up or even figure out what to go for, but you really can’t miss the standout pieces of any given collection; usually, those are the ones to disappear first but luckily for me this Otherworldly Mineralize Skinfinish was not only available when I went out hunting for it, but many counters probably still have a few pieces hanging about – it really never hurts to ask!

Givenchy is one of those brands that while in the realm of high end beauty, somehow manages to also fly under the radar, but here’s the thing: once you start delving into their range, it can very quickly turn into an obsession. A perfect example of what I’m referring to are the Les Saison Healthy Glow Powder and Mister Radiant Bronzer Healthy Glow Gel reviewed here today – products that aim to provide a glow but in the most luxuriously understated way. Then there’s the details: stars and beads … need I say more?
