Today my blog is celebrating it’s 8th birthday and I even though I have several special things coming up to commemorate this milestone, I thought I’d get down & dirty first … the beauty way, of course. Just when I thought that Urban Decay had taken the whole “Naked” theme as far as it would go, along comes this latest Naked Cherry Collection to prove me wrong. I also happen to have a major weakness for red/berry hues — in particular eye shadows — and from the minute I saw this palette, I just knew it would sit right in my wheelhouse. In case you’re wondering, I was right. So, so right.

Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette (CAN $66.00) | Housed in a sturdy plastic case with a design of coloured cherries depicting all the shades, a full-sized mirror on the inner lid, and also including a dual-ended brush (smudger/blender), these 12 luscious berry-themes shades are all arranged from light to dark and come in several finishes: matte, satin, shimmer, & duo-chrome. Texture-wise, they ALL apply beautifully and show excellent pigmentation, blendability and staying power — when worn over primer. I really can’t add more: this palette is perfection.
- Hot Spot – ivory matte
- Caution – soft neutral beige matte
- Bang Bang – shimmering pink with gold shift & iridescent micro-sparkle

Naked Cherry 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (CAN $25.00/each) | If you’ve yet to try any of Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliners, you’re missing out; displaying a creamy feel upon application and intense staying power, the two in this collection each have very fine shimmer which adds a nice depth of tone, and what’s more, they also harmonize beautifully with the palette shades. You can wear them along the lash line or smudged under any of the shadows to lend them a stronger intensity, and they’re even safe to wear along the waterline. One piece of advice if you’re planning on blending out, is to work one eye at a time to avoid the product setting before you’re done, because once they do, they’re definitely there for the long haul.

Naked Cherry Vice Lipstick (CAN $22.00/each) | Keeping with the theme and bearing a cherry motif on the outer casings, the three lipsticks of this collection come in the brand’s Vice formula: creamy, well pigmented and super comfortable to wear. The shimmer in both metallized shades is quite complex and smooth (there’s absolutely no gritty feel) with a texture that’s more balm-like than conventional lipstick. The cream shade is quite lush and while intensely colour-saturated, it’s made easier to wear by virtue of the fact that it’s NOT matte. All have varying degrees of slip to them and will definitely need reapplication at some point, but that’s certainly no deal-breaker in my book.
- Juicy – (metallized) light peachy pink with copper micro-shimmer
- Devilish – (metallized) berry pink with tonal micro-shimmer
- Cherry – (cream) deep berry wine
There you have it: a juicy, ripe collection that’s yours for the picking. Sorry … I couldn’t help myself (at least I limited the cheesy metaphors to the last paragraph). There’s also a matching Highlight & Blush Palette as well as a mini setting spray (both not shown) which I might have to check out as well, but regardless, I’m totally loving the pieces I do have. The Eyeshadow Palette has already earned a coveted spot in my beauty rotation, and something tells me it’s going to be getting quite a bit of love. Urban Decay, you’ve definitely done it again.
