Today’s post is dedicated to my amazing sister-in-law……Happy Birthday Helen!!!

Yesterday when I talked about these two polishes, you’d think I would have at least tried them out first to ensure my description was accurate, no? I mentioned that Across the Universe was a black based jelly with blue & green glitter, but in reality, the base is actually a dusty navy blue, making it look more like the cosmos than just another trendy dark, glittery nail polish! I also realized that out of the two, Across the Universe is a lot more sheer so I needed 3 coats to make it fully opaque.  With heavy glitter polishes like these, sometimes 2 layers of basecoat makes removal afterwards easier.  In the closeup shot, I tried to capture the sparkling beauty of the 2-toned glitter, but it’s not as easy to do as I thought…..still, you can get a pretty good idea.  In reality it doesn’t look as dark but has a bright depth which unfortunately does not show as well here.

Bad Romance, on the other hand, surprised me by being much more opaque and I only needed 2 coats to achieve a solid look.  The deeper opacity means that the purple shimmer & glitter seems to almost peek through the base, but when your nails catch the light at certain angles, the swirls of purple colour throughout are mesmerizing.  Both polishes had one coat of Seche Vite layered as a topcoat and the finish was very smooth and intensely glossy, giving them an other-wordly depth.  If you click on the closeup here, you can see how the purple glitter gives this polish such an edgy vibe.

In my opinion, these polishes are definitely unique among all the other glitter polishes that many companies are now putting out onto the market, mainly because the colours have such a jewelled lushness to them, and if you wish to have your hands (and nails) noticed, these are definitely worth the splurge.
