As a Canadian, you’d think I would have already been all over homegrown label Bite Beauty, and yet apart from a couple of recent purchases, my experience with this brand has been sorely lacking; an oversight that will be remedied ASAP, if these Amuse Bouche lipsticks have anything to say about it.
With six new shades having recently been added to the range and thus bringing the total now up to 40 hues (CAN $30.00/each) Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche are colour drenched lipsticks created in small hand-made batches with 12 edible oils and citrus extracts, in a broad spectrum of colours that display an ultra-creamy textures. Gliding smoothly upon application, they leave a buttery-soft feel upon the lips and provide excellent opacity from the very first swipe. Staying power (even with drinking & eating) is impressive, going easily 8+ hours for the palest colours and significantly longer for the darker hues, with a well-nourished feel to lips long after all traces of colour has faded.

Honeycomb | Beige nude, leans more warm than cool but still wearable for a broad range of complexions.
Chai | Mauve brown hue, with a good mix of both cool and warm tones and an excellent choice to reach for when you want a deeper but still neutral lip colour.
Gazpacho | A true blue-based red that may be more cool than warm leaning, but that will still compliment a wide range of skin tones (bonus: makes teeth look super white).
Spritzer | A lavender hue with rose undertones in the base which makes it a touch warmer leaning and thus infinitely more wearable than a straight-up purple shade would be. This shade will also make a unique counterpart against a light bronze palette (face and/or eyes).
Beetroot | A rich berry hue with a magenta undertone in the base. Personally, I love how this looks when paired with a light flush of colour on the cheeks and a simple black winged eye (plus loads of mascara, of course). Sexy, sophisticated and defined.
Black Truffle | A blackened violet hue that’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. While more editorial looking than a shade you’d probably want to wear during the day (then again, there really aren’t any hard & fast rules – go with what makes you feel good!), I have become somewhat obsessed with the dangerously sexy effect this gives to lips.

When it comes to lip products, I alternate between a balm and a gloss; the former to keep my lips in prime condition and the latter because I’m lazy that way. On the days when I want more impact, however, nothing but a lipstick will do and if my Canadian connection with Bite Beauty weren’t reason enough, then one swipe of these Amuse Bouche shades would certainly clinch the deal. Performance-wise, these six all impress … so much so, that I’m definitely going to look into adding a few more. Who’s with me?
