Burberry | Nail Polish SS2016 Runway Collection

Three new nail lacquer shades were also released with the recent Burberry Beauty SS2016 Runway Collection (see my review on the Highlighting Palettes here), and each one while relatively simple looking, manages to still pack some major impact by virtue of the depth of tone and excellent performance.

Housed in tall rectangular bottles, the removable outer cap displays the brand’s signature gunmetal hue etched with the iconic Burberry plaid pattern. The brush is rather square-cut, dense & full but incredibly well made, displaying an excellent flexibility to the bristles which enables it to splay easily across the nail for an effortless application. Relatively quick-drying, each shade comes to a natural glossy finish, although I do recommend a top coat just the same to seal everything in.

Burberry Optic White swatch

N°440 Optic White (CAN $23.00) | A vivid pure white crème hue with blue undertones in the base (and thus making it more cool than warm leaning) in a formula that is somewhat thick, but still quite easy to work with. Self-levelling upon application, there’s some patchiness seen at the first coat (which is actually typical for a white), but which comes to full opacity by a second layer.

Burberry Stone swatch

N°104 Stone (CAN $23.00) | A café au last crème hue with a slight pink undertone in the base to warm things up a touch, in a formula that has a thinner density than that of Optic White, and while some sheerness is visible with the first coat, there’s interestingly still good coverage just the same (sounds counter-intuitive but there you have it). Self-levelling and coming to a glossy finish, this is seriously one of the best nudes I’ve come across for my light/medium skin tone (i.e.: which doesn’t wash my hands out of all colour).

Burberry Black Cherry swatch

N°304 Black Cherry (CAN $23.00) | I have such a weakness for vampy colours, and this shade is pushing all the right buttons. A deep garnet hue in a crème-jelly hybrid formula, pigmentation is amazing and displays pretty much a flawless and self-levelling application, leaving behind a brilliant, plush & almost cushiony look at the finish. BONUS: non staining upon removal.

I may not have a huge Burberry nail polish collection, but that’s quickly changing as I can’t help but be impressed by the formula on all that I’ve tried thus far. White nail polish is my usual go-to colour for Summer (it’s absolutely amazing as a pedi shade, especially against a light tan) and so I have a feeling I’ll be needing a backup to Optic White as a result. Stone is that perfect ‘palate cleansing’ nude shade, and highly flattering against my skin tone which leads me to think a backup of that might be in order as well. Last we have Black Cherry, a lush and succulent brooding-type hue that sits right in my wheelhouse, and while I probably have a zillion similar shades, the fact that this one is non-staining makes it rise to the top of the list. If you’ve yet to discover these amazing lacquers, then I highly recommend you give them a shot and considering the quality you’re getting, I find them priced really quite well. Convinced yet?
