It’s Summer…or at least that’s how it will feel the instant you slide ‘Lara’s Theme’ onto your fingertips. Accompanying her newest releases ‘Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ and ‘I Know What Boys Like’ (reviewed here and here respectively), ‘Lara’s Theme’ is the latest from the creative genius that is Deborah Lippmann. This shade is a super-pigmented orange hue, simply bursting with colour. Not quite a neon in intensity, nor fully a crème, it’s almost a hybrid of the two, with the added bonus of a high jelly-like shine at the finish. All swatches are with Rehydrating Base Coat, two coats of lacquer and Addicted to Speed Ultra Quick Dry top coat, all Deborah Lippmann.

Created with supermodel Lara Stone and with a colourful nod to her Dutch heritage, ‘Lara’s Theme’ is an incredibly saturated and vibrant orange hue. Needing only two coats for absolutely full coverage, it literally covers your nails in a rich creamy wave and self-levels to utter smoothness. While the resulting finish is intensely glossy on its own, I added a layer of Deborah’s top coat which only increased the gloss…and then some!
Above, is an excerpt from the May 2011 issue of Vogue magazine, highlighting this intense Summer shade.
We all know by now that Deborah, an accomplished musician herself, also names all her lacquers after well-known song titles (some nostalgic and some spanking new). Inspired by the 1965 cult classic film Dr. Zhivago, ‘Lara’s Theme’ is the name of the title track and I just can’t help but hear “somewhere my love” in an endless loop in my head, every time I look at this shade!
Final thoughts: If you’re unfamiliar with Deborah Lippmann polishes, rest assured that the quality is utterly superb. ‘Lara’s Theme’ is a rich shade, definitely not runny at all, gives a stunning Summer glow to your fingertips and will never coming off as garish. With a light tan, this will be simply outstanding and I cannot wait to pair it with a pair of strappy sandals…very St. Tropez! Please visit Deborah Lippmann’s site for more information or to order.
