Dior | Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Conceal

In the past I’ve never needed to use concealers, preferring to use foundation instead for anything that may have needed covering up. Then, things changed as I got older and while I’m fortunate to not being one to have ever suffered from dark under eye circles, I do have puffiness and fine lines to contend with (oh joy). That being said, there are few products in the marketplace today that provide coverage without making my skin look all crepey, and Dior’s Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Conceal (CAN $40.00) sticks have come through with flying colours – at least where my skin is concerned.

Inspired by backstage makeup needs, what makes this product unique is the transparent smoothing core at the centre which acts in a blurring and pore-filling capacity, enabling the coloured concealer ring to glide smoothly along the skin. Not only useful for under the eyes, Fix It can also be used to cover blemishes and to help prime lips – especially useful when worn under matte lipstick to ensure a longer wear time, a moisturized lip feel, and to help minimize lip lines as well.

There are three shades: 001 Light, 002 Medium, and 003 Dark that are enough to cover the requirements of most skin tones; not covered are those with the darkest complexions. On days when my eyes look a little tired or are in need of a brightening boost, I turn to 001 Light but my go-to shade as well as the one that blends seamlessly into my light-medium skin, is hands down 003 Medium. While I am able to use only 2 of the 3 around the eye area and any blemishes, I am nevertheless able to make good use of them all when worn on the lips; 001 Light makes an excellent base for pale/nude lip colours, while 003 Dark pairs beautifully under dark/vampy lip shades, helping to prevent feathering, staining, and/or any migrating as well.

001 Light | The lightest of the three shades and which will suit those with very fair to light-medium complexions.

002 Medium | The most universal shade of the 3 and which will suit a broad range of skin tones, with the exception of the two extreme: fair & dark.

003 Dark | The darkest of the 3 and which is definitely suitable for those with medium to medium-dark complexions.

Worn as as under eye concealer, Fix It not only helps to smooth out the appearance of fine lines, but actually does a great job of filling them in as well, without gathering or caking in those delicate areas. The colour stays true without oxidizing or turning oily – another huge plus. Applied as ‘underwear’ under a matte lipstick or matte liquid lip product, Fix It helps minimize lip lines and ensures a hydrated feel – the two biggest issues I’ve always faced with this type of lippie, now solved. Overall, a huge thumbs up from me and well worth looking into, especially if you’re a concealer-phobe like ~~I am~~ used to be.
