I’m all about pampering: my face, my body, my nails, and most definitely, my hair. And while that form of pampering usually comes with a luxury price tag, I’m always open to trying out new & better priced products — especially if they deliver. So when I was approached to test out the Coconut & Macadamia Oil Collection from LaCoupe ORGNX, I actually jumped at the chance because, well … coconut. The fact that these products are also free of tons of nasty ingredients didn’t hurt the cause either.

With decades of haircare experience under their belt, LaCoupe knows a thing or two about taking care of your tresses and the ORGNX range goes next level with the creation of products that are not only good for your hair, but for the environment as well. The Coconut & Macadamia Oil Collection featured in today’s post is specifically targeted to help fight: breakage, loss of hydration, and frizz — all factors that I actually put to the test this past weekend against viciously humid conditions. Spoiler alert: I’ve never been more impressed by hair care products that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Apart from containing eco-certified ingredient blends that are specifically designed to target a variety of hair needs, there’s yet another reason to love this brand. For the last 10 years, LaCoupe has partnered up with Tress for the Future where 1 tree is planted for every purchase made, with a goal set at planting 1 million trees for this Fall. So to recap: your hair will look bomb AND you’ll be doing something good for the environment. Beauty with a cause is so totally my thing.
So here’s what you need to know about this particular range: as stated above, it has been created to help fight against breakage, hydration loss (with humidity outside and AC inside, believe me, your hair dries out), and out-of-control frizziness. What you may not know is that these products do all of that, as well as replenish vitally needed moisture back to hair, add shine without heavy build-up, and protect from harsh daily environmental damage. Filed under ‘what else you need to know’, is the fact that these products are all free of sulphates, parabens & gluten, as well as being colour safe. But the sweetest part of it all, is the price: CAN $9.99/500 ml each (by the way, this new larger size will also be available at all Jean Coutu locations as of mid-August), although since the collection is available at mass-market retailers there’s always a good chance you’ll score them on sale as well.
The entire range has THE most heavenly scent; coconut-y, but rounded out & softened, becoming a total sensorial experience in the shower (and since your eyes are already closed, feel free to imagine yourself on some exotic tropical isle …). With Cocoa Butter for nourishment but free of the usual sudsing agents found in other lines, the Coconut & Macadamia Oil Shampoo is a unique experience; the first pass does not yield much by way of lather, but the second shampoo suds up per norm, leaving behind a nice clean feel that’s similar to that of using a clarifying shampoo.
The Coconut & Macadamia Oil Conditioner includes Cocoa Butter for deep hydration and Vitamin E for UV protection, and bears the same exotic scent. The creamy texture is neither thick nor runny, coating strands effortlessly. As my hair is colour-teated a hi-lift blonde, I prefer applying conditioner from roots all the way to the ends even though some products can sometimes make my hair feel weighed down … something this conditioner so totally did not do. BONUS: this makes a great de-tangler as well.
As a huge fan of leave-in products, I was most curious to see how the Coconut & Macadamia Oil Leave-In Conditioner would fare; let me say right now that I’ll definitely be keeping this one stocked. Infused with the same Coconut and Macadamia Oils as the rest of the collection, it also includes moringa protein and ginseng to help fortify & repair hair, as well as an anti-aging complex fortified with Sweet Lupine which adds body, helping strands appear thicker. With the same amazing fragrance (you guys know that I’m a goner for anything coconut scented), this product coats the hair via an ultra-fine and completely non-sticky mist — just make sure to comb it through for an even dispersal.
As I said at the top of the post, this past weekend we ‘enjoyed’ some pretty intense heat (which I actually love) and Montréal humidity can be fairly brutal; even if your hair has never been prone to frizziness, I can pretty much guarantee it will pouf under conditions like these. So I gave all three Coconut & Macadamia Oil products a fierce test … with results that blew me away. The first thing I noticed once I had dried & styled my hair, was how shiny it looked and then it was all “where the heck did all the frizzy hairs I usually have, go”? I even took the testing outdoors: with searing temps and a family badminton match under the scorching sun (long story), my hair stayed smooth and frizz-free. Like magic. #happydance
So in a nutshell, if you’re in the market for haircare that delivers on all promises, respects your bank account & gives you all kind of feels because you’re helping the environment, then you need to get check out this entire Coconut & Macadamia Oil Collection. But to be honest, apart from everything these products have going for them (which is already significant), I’d probably also go for this range simply for the fragrance alone …
