For 2022, Dior has recently launched a revamped version of Forever and Forever Skin Glow Foundations — both versions in an impressive 42-shade range. An immediate hit since their original release in 2007, these new iterations are promising more skincare ingredients in the formulation, along with even more mindful packaging. I say that this is definitely a great way to start the year from this luxury brand.
For the recent CHANEL Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture Collection, Virginie Viard invited contemporary artist Xavier Veilhan to help stage the show; part landscape, part garden and part open theatre, the setting also integrated seating for guests in the catwalk, making for a truly immersive experience. Of course, it wouldn’t be a CHANEL show without something spectacular, and that came in the form of Charlotte Casiraghi — daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, grand-daughter of Grace Kelly — who opened the show on horseback. Happily, the horse was well trained enough to not leave any ‘surprises’ along the way …
Launched almost simultaneously with the La Pausa Spring-Summer 2022 Collection (reviewed here), CHANEL released La Comète — a collection inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s first and only high jewelry designs launched in 1932, ‘Bijoux de Diamants‘. Representing Mademoiselle’s lucky number, five timeless themes were chosen, with the crowning piece being the spectacular ‘La Comète‘ necklace. So while I may never be able to own the jewelry, I’m definitely happy to add the makeup versions to my collection.
In the 1920’s, Gabrielle Chanel chose idyllic Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the Côte d’Azur to build her elegant villa, La Pausa — which also serves as inspiration for the Spring-Summer 2022 Collection. All the pieces are imbued with the earthy tones and sparkling light of the French Riviera, and in my honest opinion, this has to be one of CHANEL’s best releases to date … but fair warning: EVERYTHING is limited edition (*crying internally).
Apart from the quality of materials used, something that impresses me about luxury skincare is the amount of solid R&D behind each formulation. And while the fancy packaging may be lovely, I’m more interested in the main event: performance.
